This doorstopper of a novel is one of King's longest works, and like many of his bigger novels, it could really stand to be trimmed by 1/3 to 1/2. Despite that, the huge cast of characters and the epic scope of the story is just amazing, even though it's quite dated now. I can even forgive the literaly deux ex machina ending. It probably really doesn't deserve 5 stars, but I just loved this book so much, both times I read it (once as a teenager, and again as an adult).
